Sometimes I feel like I am raising two sets of kids. My youngest three go to bed early and are up about 6:30am no matter what. They love to go to the library for the weekly craft and lunch time story time. They are thrilled whenever they can play in the water. In the sprinklers. Put the pool at the end of the back yard slide. Do the slip-n-slide. Water Balloons. Oh my, I think Tator has had one as a constant pet this summer. We have enjoyed many a trips to various splash pads.
I'm just grateful I have these three so I still can actively enjoy these parts of summer rather than have memories of doing these things with my oldest three. They aren't so much into "playing in the water" any more. Their idea of summer is to sleep in. It's the night time when they come alive. We love to play games, watch movies together, talk, laugh..... Well mostly they laugh at their old parents who often tend to fall asleep just after a tv show has started. Something about getting up at 6:30am versus oh 10 am.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my calling as Young Women President and that it lets me spend time with my "night owls". This summer has been filled with youth conference, girls camp, river rafting and rock climbing.
Couldn't have asked for a better summer. Well unless maybe that it lasted a little longer. So NOT ready for school to start next week.
