Five in a row

Yesterday we woke up to SNOW!

I figured it was a good time to do a shoe inventory. As I went through my son's box, I was surprised by his sandal collection.

And I thought girls were supposed to have lots of shoes.

She'll kick your...........

Jolly J is constantly getting comments about the height of her kicks.

She decided to prove it at her last belt test.

Funnies

I couldn't help but change the date format for this post (I hope you noticed).

One of my favorite things to do on Sunday, when I younger, was to read the Comics in the Sunday paper So. . . . .

In honor of this day, I present 10 Sunday Funnies from our family

After dinner Minnie let out a large burp. Bud Boy responds with, "Ha, Ha, I do that too!"

A child comes to her mom in tears, "My nose is stuck." (Looks like you have a cold)

One evening dad was helping with brushing teeth. He asked our four year old at the time to open her eyes and come to him. She responded with, "I can't open my eyes, I'm watching a commercial on them."

One day while traveling the girls starting asking questions about last names when they get married. To help them understand how it is traditionally done we gave them examples- if you marry someone with Smith it would be your first name with the last name of Smith. After awhile Minnie responded with, "so if I get married it would be Minnie with a prince."

"Mom, I just farted in my mouth!" That would be a burp, sweety.

One year in primary they were learning the song "I'll Seek the Lord Early". Each night we sing a song to our children before they fall asleep.After we finished singing this song our three year old asked, "where's the BIU (her way of saying BYU) part? We didn't understand so she sang very frustratedly, You know...... I'll seek the Lord early in B-I-U and he will show me all the truth. (the actual words are: I'll seek the Lord early while in my youth.)

It was a hot summer day, from the back seat a toddler girl explains, "I'm melting". The parents turn around to see beads of sweat on her arm and face.

While talking with Dad as he got ready for church our three year old asked, "are you going to have testimonies and frosting" (I'm all in favor of frosting instead of fasting!)

One day I heard a very angry three year old yell, "Look at me! Do I look good? NO!"

A five year old girl came to her mom and asked her if she could draw a star. She drew a basic star and got this response, "Can you do a bigger one?" so mom drew the same thing only bigger. The response was, "Could you draw any better when you were a kid?"

Dust is a Flying

While I am typing this (I started this yesterday, but kept getting pulled away) my husband is fixing our sink.

This week has been challenging and frustrating to say the least. I was quite annoyed that the company that installed our sink didn't call us back or answer our phone calls. This then turned into anger as the days added up. We then learned that they had gone out of business. What could I do? I have tried to have patience as my husband researched and found time to fix this (thank goodness he is capable and we didn't have to pay someone else). I have also felt upset and maybe a little embarrassed for lack of a better word that we had made a "bad" decision.

We have "trials", though, so we can learn and grow, right? Here's what I have learned.

First off an appreciation for running water in the kitchen. It is amazing how many times a day you use the kitchen sink and I'm not just talking washing dishes. There's washing hands, rinsing food, wiping down counter tops, draining noodles. Making trips to the bathroom sink to do all these things is truly a pain.

During these many trips I have had plenty of time to think and I have come to realize we didn't make a bad decision. We made a good decision! We researched and researched. We got multiple quotes and we made a good decision on the style of countertops/sink we wanted and who to put it in. Circumstances out of our control and knowledge happened. We had chosen someone whom we trusted to do a good job and in a way that is correct.

When we found out they had gone out of business, I made a judgement call based on my current situation. I assumed they went out of business for they did shotty work. I then felt to ask how could we have gone wrong? I truly have no idea why they went out of business (in this day and economy it can be difficult for any company).They actually were really good to work with and did fantstic granite work. An oversite on the sink installation was the only problem.

So.. what have I learned? Once again how easy it is to pass judgement. How often in life does this happen? Often we see others in unfortunate circumstances and assume they brought it on themselves. They made a bad decision. Often times they made the right decision, just circumstances and the agency of others caused an unfortunate result.

Asking about how an undermount sink is installed is something we had never thought to ask (We had never even heard of this problem) We sure will now! If any of you ever get the remodeling bug you can learn from us.

Basically there are two current ways of installation. One involves anchoring wood into the cabinet and gluing (it's acutally called bond-o) to the sink. This is actually a very common way and the way our sink was done. It probably would have been just fine if they hadn't messed up the original installation. The other way is to create a frame work for the sink to sit in that is anchored into the cabinets and locked in tight with the countertops. It's a little more secure for the whole bottom of the sink is sitting in something. There is no way for it to fall. If we had known we would have requested this way of installation.

Just to set the record straight, would I do granite and an undermount sink again over solid surface? Yes! The reasons we went this directions still are there despite this unfortunate mishap.

Is our sink secure now? Let's just say my husband basically put all his weight on it and it held just fine. I don't think dishes and water will ever top that weight.

I asked Princess if we should go watch Minnie unwrap her presents. After hearing presents,Princess said, "Ho, Ho, Ho"
While traveling home from Kindergarten Bud Boy told his dad, "School gives you something to do while you wait for lunch."
Tator commented, "I thought dad was weed hacking and you were going to mow." Mom replied, "He is probably just getting the lawn mower ready." Tator then replied, "or he's scaring a cat."
Important decisions need prayer!! Heavenly Father can answer our prayers with a Yes, No, or Maybe So. "When He answers yes, it is to give us confidence. When He answers no, it is to prevent error. When He withholds an answer, it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth. We are expected to assume accountability by acting on a decision that is consistent with His teachings without prior confirmation. We are not to sit passively waiting or to murmur because the Lord has not spoken. We are to act." Elder Richard G. Scott
Our home teachers shared a lesson on being thankful. After the lesson he said this is important, even for the wee ones. Bud Boy pipes up, "I love the Wii!"
Bud Boy is showing mom how Tator just hurt his arm. After showing her all the ways he can no longer move it he then says, "and this is the arm that does the remote."
We overheard Bud Boy trying to sing the lyrics to Check Yes or No by George Strait. "Do you Love me? Try guessing No"
Bud was asked to pick the song for FHE. He said I want to sing, "Follow the Prophet, Follow the Prophet, Don't go straight....."
"Mom, we're on the free way. That means you can go whatever speed you want. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep driving" Bud Boy
"I've seen Avengers 20 times. Wait a minute. Am I just making things up? I do that sometimes." Bud Boy
Bud Boy said to his sister, "You're a toilet". She said, "that is so rude". He then said, "Okay you're a couch"
When Bud Boy heard the song Call Me Maybe on the radio he yelled, "it's the song where she says Just give me a banana ; call me, maybe."
Bud Boy was listening to music on the ipod, "Mom it's the song where the guy plays the piano and the other one plays the Jell-O!"
After watching the Olympics, we overheard Tator saying( while playing with Barbies): "And she sticks the landing; no wobbly bobblies."
After going under his bed, in an attempt to retrive some toys, Bud Boy said, "I have a slight problem. I can't breathe under there."
Bud Boy said, "This is the bread I want, it's wheed bread."
While going through the clean laundry on the couch Jolly J exclaimed, "Quit sitting on the laundry! Now my clothes smell like butt."
Tator asked, "Dad what time does bedtime even start?" Dad replies 8 o'clock. Tator then says, "that's why we go to bed at 8."
Jolly J said to her sister, while counting up her game score, "You made me count to neven and I don't even know what letter that is."
I overheard Tator singing, "Adam was a prophet. First one that we know. He was called to Egypt."
Karebear was showing us that the outside lining of her lunchbox had a hole in it. Teasingly Dad said. "What, you expect us to buy you a new lunch box every year?" Bud Boy piped up, "You can just use a paper sack."
The song, Live Like You Were Dying, was on the radio. After hearing the line, "I loved deeper", Tator asks, "Why does he love big bird?"
Grandpa F often gives the girls money after attending a game they have played in. We went bowling as an extended family. After Bud Boy finished bowling he went up to Grandpa, held out his hand and said, "I had a game."
Karebear stated that "Dad was using his frustrated words" while working on the car.
Bud Boy asked mom to look in his eye because it was hurting. While inspecting he looked at mom's eyes and said, "Mom your eyes are starting to crack."
While driving Jolly J asks, "What does prindel mean?" We figured out she was looking at the gear shift (PRND3L).
Tator sits down with her plate of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a roll at Sunday dinner. " Mom, this is like food from the olden days!"
Bud Boy is 22 your favorite number? "Yeah, it's a high number"
Hearing my son call out, "Amer-i-caw flag" every time he sees the flag.
Bud Boy claiming, "It is tomorrow" whenever we talk about doing something tomorrow.
After watching the news Tator asked, "Do we get tormadeos?"
While licking the beater Tator said, "Mom, Santa must really like you" Why? "Because you make good recipes!"
Bud Boy gets in the van and states, "Hot! I can't breed"
After hearing someone burb Bud Boy said, "Ha, Ha I do that too!"
Tator asked, "Mom, how long have you been married? " After answering she then asked, "How long has daddy been married?"
"I'm going to make my bed. That's a great idea and great ideas give you power!" Bud Boy
When we ask Bud Boy something and he doesn't know he says, as he shakes his head, "I can't know."

After putting on his tie Bud Boy exclaimed, "I look like daddy's age!"
Bud Boy's current favorite song is Tinkle, Tinkle little star. Up b b b the world so high.
Tator comes into the room where Bud Boy is attempting to stand on his head. "Bud Boy I can see your butt crack. Mom, What's a butt crack?"
As we pull out of the garage to take the girls to school, Bud Boy states, "Good-bye house, we'll see you soon."
After watching her dad dance Minnie asks, "Is that a dance from the 80's?"
